real good food
Real good food is all we are about here at Jimmy Acres. We love food, we love flavor, we love farming as a connection to our community and ecosystems around us, and we love working with the soil.
We grow, raise and sell a diversity of fruits, vegetables and pasture raised poultry, pork, lamb and beef. Some weeks we even venture into the baking world, bringing you sourdough breads!
While our farm is entirely
herbicide-, pesticide- , GMO-, added hormone-, synthetic fertilizer-, and antibiotic-FREE,
we'd like to give credit to the intricate web of nature that allows our land to thrive. Each and every corner of our farm is covered in a metropolis of microbes that dictates the land's productivity. Our job as farmers is to support these critters with composts, minerals, livestock management and growing plant roots. From there, we just sit back and let nature do the work! If you'd like to know more about our farming practices, come chat with us at one of our farm stands, check out Our Mission page or send us an email!
Fruits and Vegetables
We grow all of our fruits and vegetables using no-till methods. We mulch. We compost. We hand weed and then we harvest.
Seasonally available produce:
Lettuce, kale, radishes, peas, cucumbers, garlic, onions, tomatoes, squash, peppers, okra, eggplant and sweet potatoes.
Turkey raised on pasture
Raised seasonally- ready fresh for Thanksgiving! Our turkeys move onto fresh pasture every few days, hunting and pecking, doing what turkeys do best! We also feed the turkeys organic feed from local Reedy Fork Farm.

Pigs raised in the forest
We raise our pigs in young, brushy forests of the farm, clearing out underneath trees, making room for a diversity of grasses to come in. We feed our pigs Non-GMO feed. No antibiotics or added hormones are ever used on our pigs.
Pork cuts available frozen at our farm stands or through our online order form.
We periodically offer fresh sourdough bread on Saturday mornings at our farm stand in Chapel Hill. Join our listserv to get updates on bread availabilty.
